Trust is good, controll is better?

Our goal is to further increase the acceptance of wood as a natural resource and building material through excellent timber qualities. In doing so, we are particularly concerned with the support of sustainable forest management. For this reason we have high demands on our domestic and foreign timber suppliers. In order to demonstrably and transparently meet our guiding principle of ecologically compatible wood utilization, we fulfill all of the provisions of the European Timber Regulation (EUTR) and use acknowledged certification schemes like PEFC™ and FSC®.

PEFC™ (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) and FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) are international certifications of the timber supply chain according to which the wood must originate from responsible forestry. The FSC® standards are even stricter than the PEFC™ certification. The products are traceable all the way from their origin in the forest to the manufacturer of the final product. In that way, economic, ecological and social aspects are to be taken into account in the international trade of wood. Through this detailed monitoring of the trade, Holz Henkel takes the responsibility over the supply chain of all certified products.
