Holz Henkel GmbH & Co. KG - Your partner for a sustainable timber industry

The philosophy of Holz Henkel is based on the responsible handling of the natural resource wood. Legality, quality and sustainability play an eminently important role in the timber import and trade. To verify the compliance with our requirements, we travel to the countries of origin and hold close contact with our suppliers.

Trust is good, controll is better?

Our goal is to further increase the acceptance of wood as a natural resource and building material through excellent timber qualities. In doing so, we are particularly concerned with the support of sustainable forest management. For this reason we have high demands on our domestic and foreign timber suppliers. In order to demonstrably and transparently meet our guiding principle of ecologically compatible wood utilization, we fulfill all of the provisions of the European Timber Regulation (EUTR) and use acknowledged certification schemes like PEFC™ and FSC®.

Everything from one source – Holz Henkel GmbH & Co. KG

In 1888 Josef Henkel founded a roofing company in Dingelstädt / Eichsfeld and thus also today’s company. When Johannes Henkel took over management in the 1930s, he moved the company to Göttingen. In 1954 the construction of the planing mill and various storage buildings began. Quickly Holz Henkel developed into one of the largest and most powerful suppliers of wood and planed timber products in Germany.

This is how it stayed; we still measure ourselves against the highest benchmarks in quality and performance. For every application we have the optimal timber quality on stock.

Quality controlled planing mill

Since 2013 Holz Henkel is the first planing mill in Germany which is monitored by a third party. As a full member of the VEH (Association of the European Planing Mill Industry), we sort a large portion of our own produced goods according to the valid sorting standard of the VEH. These qualities are reviewed annually by Holzforschung Austria and compliance is then confirmed through the VEH quality seal.

The company Euroline was founded in 2006 and is considered one of the largest and most modern manufacturers of charcoal briquettes in whole Europe. At the Göttingen premises, 36,000 tonnes of charcoal are produced per year – after the latest expansion, far more than 50,000 tonnes.
